The Generosity is Humbling

I am so taken aback by the employees here! I'm just a contractor, but they have such generous hearts!

Over the weekend, I put "letters" on 50 desks of the people that I work the closest with (in my position as the receptionist). I had bought some beautifully colored card stock at Michael's and printed this one page letter on them. I hand-wrote in each person's name and signed each one and included my work extention. This morning, I received a couple calls from people who were interested in donating, and they also told me that they would pass the letter around to the other people in their department for more donations.

AND - I was told by one employee that this company has an Employee Matching Gift Program! I had no idea. So I hopped onto their website, downloaded the form and photocopied a bunch of them. Unbelievable!

So, in the course of 3 hours at work, I got $70 from 4 people who stopped by my desk. The minimum contribution has to be $25 to be eligible for the matching gift, so I had 2 of the donators fill out the form. And I got one guy who donated $50 to me on the first day to fill one out, too. So just in matching gifts alone, I've racked up $100!

My total so far, including the matches, is $620!!! I am beyond amazed!

Of course, I got a couple stories from people who's lives have been touched by MS. It's true, everyone knows at least one person with MS. It's a hell of a lot more prevalent than I ever imagined. I can't believe I knew nothing about MS before my 1st exacerbation, or even after that, for that matter! I only stumbled upon it when my 2nd exacerbation hit. And that was purely by chance!
