Some Updates ....
Thursday night I tried BodyPump for the first time. I don't know why I was so damn intimidated by it. I really thought my upper body was a lot weaker than it is. No, it's not strong, by any stretch of the imagination, but it's certainly not completely weak. I used a max of 2lbs throughout the whole hour. You use a barbell with the weights on the ends. There are all kinds of lifts and lunges and squats. Let me tell you! 2lbs feels like 20lbs by the end of the hour!!!!
Friday night was BodyCombat. My legs and feet had a lot of spasms - charley horses. Sucks. But I kept with it and tried stretching them in between, whenever I could. After the class I talked to the instructor about the spasms, and if she knew of any tips to reduce them AND keep up with the class. I don't want to go to the side of the room or anything like that to rest. She said that no matter what the move is, keep my heel pressed out, or keep my weight on my heel NOT on my toes or stretching out my toes. That's a really hard thing for me to do because I did ballet for several years (Elem., JR & HS). It's drilled into your head so much to keep those toes pointed!! Ugh!
Saturday I had a nice day off, well, kind of. Chris and I went to his grandmother's funeral service. It was horrible. It was a complete mental bash at Chris' father - from the grave. She wasn't a nice lady. I'm glad I never met her - and Chris hadn't seen her since he was about 12. As soon as the service was over, all of us "kids" streamed out of the funeral home as fast as possible. Chris was very pissed. Robin (his middle sis) was very pissed. Basically, everyone was bullshit.
And so far today (Sunday) .... I went to the gym a little early to hit the treadmill before BodyFlow class. I got in .70 miles. The BodyFlow was a rough one, lots of leg stuff. I think I'm still feeling the effects of the BodyPump class! My right thigh is pretty sore, and I know that it's not MonSter related.
I plan on hitting BodyPump again on Monday night. It'll really help increase my upper body strength, without going overboard or using the machines.
