Running around the Internet

Lots of different projects and researching my "new" interests lately. I created a new message board for MS (email me if you want the access link) and I joined a message board for Quaker Parrot owners. I'm still doing a lot of research on preparing for our baby, mostly about full-spectrum lighting. There's a lot more to it than I thought. It's not like going to Walmart and picking up a light bulb!

Chris has made a wonderful playgym for our baby. It's made out of PVC and it's just perfect! Once I finish wrapping it, I'll post a picture. It's very cool. Chris is also making a very large one for Gerry (the hand-feeder). Gerry has a couple African Grays, a Caique, a couple Timnehs and a couple cockatiels. Gerry has no idea that we are making this for her, so I hope that she's pleasantly surprised. Buying something like this at the store would cost $200/300 ++. I can't believe how much people charge for these! It's outrageous.

Actually, Chris and I are thinking of making our own website and selling them ourselves. Not for that much - although that would be sweet income! I'm thinking more like $50/small, $75/medium, $100/large.

By the way, Sweet Barrie, I'm going to have Chris make Solo one, but we'll talk about what you'd like for her specifically. From the moment that he started making Mia's, I said - WE ARE MAKING ONE FOR SOLO TOO!!! You & Solo will just love it!! It's our gift to you with hugs and love!

Last Friday we went out to visit with Mia and we got some great quality bonding time in together! She took right to me and actually kept jumping onto me from my finger. She wanted to snuggle badly! I held her on my chest and stroked her and scratched all around her neck - and her eyes got sleepy. She looked like she was in heaven! We stayed for 2 and a half hours playing and bonding. It was so wonderful. And the moment that we had to say goodbye and head home, I felt such emptiness inside of me. She's already stolen my heart and this was only our 2nd visit! I miss her so much.

After that bonding experience, I would have to say that I am no longer nervous and anxious. I am wholeheartedly excited and very eager to have her home with me!

She has already fledged and has been clipped. She's eating pellets and is beginning the weaning process. I'm not even sure how all of that works, but we were told to call on August 1 to find out if Mia will be ready that week. If all goes as expected, she will be! I want to make her transition as easy as possible on her. We left the acrylic carrier at the woman's house so that Mia can begin to become acquainted with it.

I think that pretty much brings us up to speed on all of the excitement.
